Scope
This Code of Conduct applies to all members, officers and volunteers of the Cricket Club and all guests, as well as individuals who participate in or attend club matches in any capacity.
Core Principles for All Members and Guests
All members must adhere to these fundamental commitments:
- Respect and Dignity: Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every person within the context of Cricket
- Non-Discrimination: Members shall not discriminate based on age, gender, disability, race, ethnicity, nationality, colour, marital status, religious belief, class, sexual orientation, or political belief
- Active Accountability: Members must actively challenge witnessed discrimination rather than remain silent
- Behavioural Standards: Maintain high standards of conduct and promote fair play
- Rules Compliance: Encourage learning the laws of cricket and respect match officials' decisions
- Child Welfare Priority: Place the well-being and safety of children above the development of performance
- Age-Appropriate Activities: Ensure cricket activities match participants' age, maturity, experience and ability
- Substance Restrictions: Members cannot smoke, drink, or use banned substances while working with children
- Child Protection: Never provide alcohol to children under club supervision
Additional Requirements for Officers and Volunteers
Those in leadership or coaching roles must also:
- Complete appropriate vetting before commencing their role
- Hold relevant qualifications and insurance coverage
- Operate transparently, avoiding private unobserved situations with young people
- Have knowledge of the ECB's safeguarding policy
- Build professional relationships based on mutual trust and respect
- Ensure any physical contact is appropriate and consensual
- Never engage in sexual relationships with 16-17 year olds in their care
- Complete continued safeguarding training as required
Enforcement
Breaches of this Code of Conduct may result in:
- A verbal warning
- A written warning
- Temporary suspension from club activities
- Expulsion from club premises
- Permanent exclusion from membership
Disciplinary proceedings will be conducted in accordance with the club's constitution and disciplinary procedures.
