Overview
Draycott & Hanbury Cricket Club has adopted guidelines to manage child protection risks associated with photography and filming during cricket activities. This policy aims to protect all members, particularly children and young people.
Identified Risks
The club acknowledges several concerns regarding photography and filming:
- Children becoming identifiable through shared photos combined with personal information
- Location risks from images published online
- Inappropriate image capture
- Improper use or alteration of images
Photography Permissions
Prior parental consent is mandatory before capturing images of children. As stated in our policy:
"Photographs/images are not to be taken at matches or training without the prior permission of the parents/carers."
Coaches may obtain consent by proxy during player registration. They must communicate any photography refusals to opposing team representatives before matches.
Informing Children
Children should be informed when photography will take place at an event and understand that they can:
- Choose not to be photographed
- Report any concerns to their coach or team manager
- Tell a trusted adult if they feel uncomfortable
Publication Guidelines
When publishing images, the following rules apply:
- If the player is named, avoid using their photograph
- If the photograph is used, avoid naming the player
- Direct written consent is required when names and photos appear together
- Focus on the activity rather than individual children
- Ensure children are appropriately dressed for the activity
- Avoid images in changing rooms or other sensitive areas
Video Coaching
When video is used for coaching purposes:
- Only ECB Foundation Level-qualified or higher coaches may use video analysis
- Footage must be stored securely
- Footage will be deleted upon request from parents/carers
- Footage should only be used for coaching purposes
Social Media
Before posting any images to social media:
- Ensure you have consent from all individuals pictured (or their parents if under 18)
- Do not tag children in photographs without parental consent
- Do not share location data with images
- Consider who can see the images and adjust privacy settings accordingly
